Norman H. Deosaran, Chairman of the Board of SeaFreight Line passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, September 11, 2009 at the age of 78. Born in Trinidad in 1931, Deosaran completed his education in Accounting in London after which he returned to Trinidad taking positions with a number of multi-national Company’s. Always with a love for the sea and ships, Deosaran joined Meliville Shipping as CFO. He went on to form Oceanfreight Trinidad Ltd in 1981 also taking the challenge of Vessel Owner with the purchase and operation of several Vessels plying the Caribbean and eventually the U.S. routes. In 1992, Deosaran together with Roland Malins-Smith and Jose Perez formed SeaFreight Line with the desire to establish a truly Caribbean Shipping Line that emphasized service and schedule reliability on the U.S./Caribbean trade lanes. As Chairman, Deosaran oversaw the growth of SeaFreight over the past 17 years into a company currently ranked 31st in Ocean Carriers carrying U.S.Exports to the World as recently published by the Journal of Commerce. He is survived by his Wife, four Children and an extended family of Brothers, Sisters Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren.
